Songs to... (Lisa Loeb, Alexi Murdoch, & The Avett Brothers)

The past week? No comment.

I feel like Doogie Houser, staring at the cursor and trying to tone down the cheese factor on my inner monologue. When times are tough, I can deal. I'm good with emotional, angry, and self-righteous. What throws me is when things are good. It feels especially dangerous when things are consistently good. What if the world isn't 100% suck and pushing that Sisyphus bolder of emotions up the hill? What if?

Lisa Loeb - Truthfully

I always kinda wanted to be more like Lisa Loeb... a cool indie chick with a guitar, funky glasses, and a heart that comes out sounding like butter when I sing. This song is really sweet and kind of perfect.

Truthfully, I really can’t explain, I’m floating, I’m smiling again... But the last thing that I want to do is to tell you that I’m right for you.

Alexi Murdoch - Orange Sky

The first time I heard Alexi Murdoch, he was opening for someone (errr... I can't seem to remember now but it was Sheryl Crow or Alanis...). Anyway, the point is that I can't even remember who else I saw that night because his voice and sound just completely blew me away. He was so handsome and his voice completely melted me. Still does every time I listen.

In your love, my salvation lies. In your love, in your love, in your love.

The Avett Brothers - Kick Drum Heart

Ahhh drums. I want to take the feeling this song gives me, wrap it up in a little box, and carry it around with me everywhere I go. Good times.

It's not the chase that I love, it's me following you...
